The Hog

This drawing is a “close-up value study”, which means that the subject drawn is zoomed in to allow the drawing to be abstract. This particular assignment was challenging in the beginning and I found myself struggling to find a picture that was zoomed in enough. In this drawing, I used light, medium, and dark tones to depict shadow and light. On dark values, to prevent a natural shine, I avoided pressing down on the paper too hard with the lead. At first glance, the subject of the picture is difficult to visualize; this is how the title supports the drawing. By associating the title with the piece, it can be concluded that the drawing is one of a Harley Davidson engine. Overall, I enjoyed this project and I will use the skills that it taught me for future pieces
